It's just plain ignorant to think more school = learning more, people learn whatever the forget they want to learn. Americans do have some of the worst schooling programs but they are one of the smartest countries in the world. I had to do a long ass research paper in junior year about schooling vs actual intelligence, I forgot most of it but I remember one of the top schools from china sent about 20 graduates to intern at successful American companies and all 20 of them were fired within 2 weeks because although having a massive book knowledge, they couldn't do stuff by themselves, they had to be told EVERYTHING to do and problem-solved like a 4 year old handicap. Americans don't need to know all the capitals of countries or know what some dead friend said that so called "changed the world." Americans have innate street smarts and live a fast-paced life that leads them to be much more successful and practical in the world than someone that can recite a book by memory. We are doing it right, everyone else is doing it wrong.

Hi there, I'm a private school! Specifically I can be a high school, middle school, lower school or even all three! We don't follow the rules of the government, so forget you! :D

Your choice has come from your ignorance. Hopefully by 18 you'll understand that.

I think if there was more school, things would go two ways in terms of how kids would respond. One group would develop even more of a pessimistic attitude towards school and get even less done, and the other group would just develop even more of a mentality that overachieving seems to be the standard. Either way, it seems to be becoming more and more that a (public) school isn't a place where students are equipped with the knowledge and wisdom they need to face almost all facets of daily life, it's a place where a model American citizen is bred.

You can believe what you like.

The increase in school time is only going to change for certain schools I believe that had less time than others.  My school has about a 25 minute longer day than schools in Philadelphia and they're increasing schools such as these to the same length.

I think we should just adopt a year-round schedule.  More frequent, albeit, shorter breaks.

I know this is rather neglectful, but as long as he doesn't make things super stupid, I could care less.
