My Computer's audio is not working. Ever since we unhooked the audio/video cable from the back of my computer to my friends laptop (she has viruses that needed to be checked), this has been happening.

When I plugged it back into my computer, the audio stopped working.
The plug was one of those big two-screw cables with something that looked like a headphone jack attached to it.

What my main concern for it is if I plugged it in wrong.
Right across from the cables port are 6 color coded jacks for, I'm guessing, audio.
The jack was obviously black and had no color coded marks on it, so I decided;
"Hey, why not just plug in it the black one?"
When I plugged it in, I even heard the "thump" you would usually hear when you plugged in your headphones. So, I play blockland. No sound.

No, nothing is set on mute. My volume on both my Computer's settings and my stereo are not on mute.

So now I'm wondering what the hell I did wrong. I even tried plugging the jack into the 5 other jacks. Nothing worked.

Is it a 1/8th jack? 1/8th are the ones that you can fit into your mp3 player and most other electronics.
Marcem:
You're supposed to plug it into the green.
Inv3rted:
Indeed.

Also the screwy thing you connected was probably the DVI cable. That connects your GPU to your monitor, totally irrelevant to sound.
Mr. Bill:
You may need to redownload some drivers for your audio.
