An item that adds only a defined amount of health

no, no, something more... official looking then that
when people see a red block sitting on the ground they don't think "HEALTH :D" they think "oh hey a red block"
when people see a box with a first aid sign spinning around idly on the floor, it's another story entirely

how about an item where if you have it in you inventory when you die it revives you once with half your max health and leaves your inventory
