you could use a prop, but people dont seem to really like them too much

Thats not what he meant. I took what he said as where would the faces go? Would there be any studs on top? How would the bottom look? It would be hard to make as a "brick".
EDIT: Actually, I guess what you said made sense to his post. So regard the first sentence :P
