If abusing human rights won popularity points I'd sooooo do it.

Whatever is defined as a hate crime is already a crime regardless, but the penalties are greater because of the motive of the attack. You're wrong, simple as that.
Obviously not. The so-called "hate crimes" also addressed in the bill include hateful speech, hateful public showing (as in, protesting), as well as many other non-beating-the-crap-out-of-someone crimes.
http://www.365gay.com/news/congress-extends-hate-crime-protections-to-gays/
"(Washington) Physical attacks on people based on their loveual orientation will join the list of federal hate crimes in a major expansion of the civil rights-era law Congress approved Thursday and sent to President Barack Obama."
Preventing someone from speaking out against anything, including homoloveuality, is violating the First Amendment, period.
No one is. If that was a crime, I would be on your side.
As to your second paragraph, I'd suggest you stop putting words in my mouth. Reading your own assumptions into what I say does nothing for you. I say "it's not caused by genetics" and you automatically think I'm saying "it's a choice"? You'd think you would've learned how to read in whatever liberal indoctrination center, I mean college, you went to.
You hate people for something that's not their choice, is what you're saying? You're more of a bigoted starfish than I thought.
And exactly what did I do that caused me to become a bigot, now? As I've found in discussions about Proposition 8, it turns out the actual hate is being directed (in huge amounts) towards those who are anti-gay. It's funny how people show their true colors when they get all mad like that.
You're a bigot. You can't deny it.
You seem to get mad quite often.
lol
Oh well, I try to make a joke, and of course you come in here, frothing at the mouth to take another stab at my religion. Stop trying to force your view of things down my throat, please.
You said it wasn't entirely a joke.

And just a little something more from the article at that friend website:
"The bill also creates a federal crime to penalize attacks against U.S. service members on account of their service."
How very liberal of them.
Allath:
Wait, so I cant say anything negative like "That was gay..." Or "You gaytard"?

No you can't. If you do, you get sent to the FEMA death camps, along with swine flu victims and your Grandma under Obama's health-care plan.

Haven't read thread.
What does being in a hate-crime bill do?
