I don't think this will catch on. I don't say monday to a black guy because he will stab me. But if I call a gay guy homo, what is he going to do, no mortal danger there. |

--- Quote from: ladios on October 28, 2009, 05:57:45 PM ---I'm Christian, but I am not homophobic... far from it actually xD But yeah, The thing is when a crime is committed only because the person is gay, then it obviously is a problem. Targeting based on religion, orientation, race, etc, is all really stupid. Yes I am agaisnt affirmative action, I shouldn't have to deal with more stuff because of my ancestry than someone who is Black. Really I beleive that was the same thing Blacks once said "how come white people get special treatment" Also I am against feminism for this same reason. But this doesn't mean I don't think there should be special prosecution against tribals/ family men/ religous(or athiest) extremeists that go out fo their way to hurt others. I am 100% for equality, but everyone is pushing for some people to be more equal than others. --- End quote --- I get screwed here, no one in my ancestry lived in the US during slavery and none of them ever owned a slave but because I am white I deserve some kind of punishment I guess. The people that fight hard for affirmative action are lazy black people trying to get a free job from the years of torture and suffering their ancestors endured. |

Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense. Definition 1a, however, is sometimes used among African-Americans in a neutral or familiar way. Definition 3 is not normally considered disparaging—as in “The Irish are the mondays of Europe” from Roddy Doyle's The Commitments—but the other uses are considered contemptuous and hostile. –noun 1. Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive. a. a black person. b. a member of any dark-skinned people. 2. Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive. a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc. 3. a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised. [Origin: 1640–50; < F nègre < Sp Bro black] |
