I end up feeding the trolls a lot as well, but mainly because I find fun in it, and it doesn't harm anybody, except those few people who overreact when one pops up. I say let them have their fun before they get banned.

The most devastating thing to do to a troll is to not reply, not even as a joke. They're grabbing for attention and replying at all, even negatively, gives them that.

But there's no way that ever happens. You can tell people not to post there all you want, and they still will. That's why I have a little fun and take what they say seriously, attempting to have a legitimate, calm, and logical argument. It usually provides a nice laugh or two.

1. If you don't tell people not to feed the troll, they will do so
2. If you tell people not to feed the troll, they will still do so

Also, I don't let the trolls get to me, so doesn't that not make me prey? Or am I misunderstanding? Do trolls really tell their little troll friends that "hey people on the Blockland forums feed trolls, go over there and troll lol"? Because this may be so, but that was not my understanding.

That's not necessarily what I'm trying to say, but I see how it looks that way. I simply assumed playing along with said troll and acting like they're a logical person would have no negative effects to anything, and that after the troll was banned it would be the end of that. Am I incorrect in saying that?

This is true in my case. I have no prior knowledge of forum communities or even what others are like, as I've never been a part of one before Blockland, so my views on forum communities (being somewhat incomplete) are based solely on the Blockland forums. I assume Otis, you, and a handful of others have been a part of other communities, and probably know a lot more about these kind of things, but I'm just trying to understand how this whole thing works. Trolls are strange people creatures.

Well you don't have to be that person, if you can contact them outside the forum inform them so they don't make the mistake again.
