What avatar(s) should I make?

I started getting into making avatars, simple ones, but avatars nonetheless. I was wondering what I should make, I use gimp. If you tell me how, I might use Paint.net (Not really sure how/Don't really like it's effects). Here are two examples, one an animation, another an effect. Heh, I kind of used somebody else's avatar for the animated one. I posted the file on his thread about avatars, though. Another example, see my avatar.

Make a highway from an aerial view, just a few lanes with different cars passing by.

Sure, I'll do the highway. Possibly trans them, but not exactly first on my list. I tried to make a Christmas-y (Red to green) version of my avatar, but it was too hard once it started spinning. Is there any way to tint in paint.net or Gimp?
Edit: Here, I'm done for now. It took a while, but I don't like it. Too tired to do more. The car's a bit fast in the end.
