simple ways to fix lag?

So far i have, and use,
Close all programs before hosting,
ALWAYS Close all internet based program.
I need more, because people say the ping is in the 2000's.
someone on my server said that if i 'made blockland a lower priority, it would lag less for the people'
and
'Blockland is such a high priority, that you are getting no lag while the other people are'
I heard this and said
'haow 2 change?'
And got no reply. If anyone has heard of this, please tell me how it works.

The Meaning Of Spam By Freeze
In the beginning the was a big bang... BLOCKLANDERS HAD LANDED IN BLOCKLAND!
So the blocklanders decided that they should build to survive and they did, but they used big bricks when they could be using bricks that filled it instantly. They found out that if they did this it slowed down the server (what we call nowadays lagging) So what they did was they built there buildings with brick smarts. They put the right size of brick in! There is also a way admin can stop spam on there servers....
1. They can put the add-on on called Script clear spam or...
2. Every now and again they can type /clearspam
So now you know what spam is and what it does.

Another thing that causes lag is too many ppl

So many national socialist points I can't really be bothered.
Anyway, on-topic - Lugnut there may be multiple things causing your lag. Could you please post - Your console.log, basic system specifications (sorry but this could easily be the cause, things such as RAM ammount, Graphic Card, Processor).
A few things to try before you post these
- Try disabling some add-ons before you start your server. Heck, try default add-ons.
- Make sure your firewall and/or router are set up with the correct settings to let Blockland through effortlessly.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, are you on wireless?
