Lots of lag

I have wireless, and my signal strenght is every bar but the last one. I think my graphics are at neraly best or best. And i cant find the diplay box....

yup there 2 kinds of lag.
network lag;
wireless connection quality, or internet speed (or lack of)
graphical lag;
old/slow computer. less then average parts. and most importantly, that video card

ok well i know about the lag now but know i need to know why at random times it pops up and says blockland.exe has stopped working or not responding

I know when that happens. It ALWAYS happens to me after there is too much spam and lag. It never happens to me on MY server, but on other peoples servers.
