Author Topic: will the world end in 2012?  (Read 1850 times)

People think the end of the Mayan calendar means the end of time. It just means the end of the calendar. Just pop out a new one and hang it on your fridge. Preferably with kittens in it.
no, get a blockland one.

Yay

Bug 2000?
Where do you live man.

Y2K was based on the fear that some programmers didn't record years in their software with four digits, so once the year hit 2000 they would reset to 1900, somehow loving up the whole system. Of course this would not have happened, and even if it did, the programmers aren't idiots and would know what would happen before it did.

the world has been "destroyed" many many times by natural disasters and such. we know this ourselves.
and this includes later in earth's formation when life existed here, and survived every one of those times.

the Mayans never implied all life will be wiped out.
they simply mention that it will be another disaster of not so specific kind. one life has survived before and will again.

now the coincidence you gotta pick to believe from, is that the long count calendar of theirs always ends with the earth's realignment in its (however long years) rotation in the galaxy.

other moons, planets, comets, and other such space bodies rotate and move when gravity pulls them about every so many years. why cant earth?

Actually, the Earth is aligned with the Sun and the center of the Milky Way every December. It's no coincidence.

y2k

yah technically the effects of y2k did happen. except it only caused a few minor bugs here and there or messed up the time lol.
no failing of all the earth's computers like some thought.

i mean the coincidence that the mayans knew about that.
of course its true that the earth does that

Silly gun fun, the world already ended on 1/1/2000 and 6/6/2006.

No. They said it would end in 2000. yet were still here.
Well technically if you want to go by the biblical calender we're still in 1858

I wonder how many people are gonna decide to kill themselves on that day? Lmfao.
