Skies
heedicalking:
I am sure by looking at an existing skybox's textures and the DML, you can figure out which part is which and which goes where.

Omg.
--- Quote from: Deathwishez on November 26, 2009, 11:52:51 PM ---I've looked at some other maps, and I've seen some patterns here and there, but I was wondering if someone here could tell me how the .dml files piece together to seven pictures.

I noticed a patteren, but I'm not 100% sure of the pattern. That's why I am here to ask the Blocklanders, to save me time and frustration.

I've figured it out. Kinda. It doesn't make sense, but I just did it anyways.
Does anyone know why the .dml resource won't download?
Wedge:
There is an order. I usually guess and check. I put the top and bottom ones in the right place and then randomly throw in the sides. You can actually swap the textures around in in notepad or rotate the textures in your favorite image editor while the game is running and reload the dml file for the updated sky. Thankfully you don't have to restart the game to swap some textures around.
This tutorial explains how to make skies using terragen, and in the process explains exactly what you're seeing in the resource.dml.

Custom skies do not get downloaded, even with texture downloading on. I don't know if this is intentional, oversight or a bug.
Deathwishez:
I think it is because the .dml resource file doesn't download.
