Do I have to portfoward a modem if i have cable/DSL ?

it has one ethernet port and 2 telephone ports on the back. But i can't port forward because the ip address i used to put in the address bar doesn't work anymore. plz help.

So did you use to put 192.168.1.1 in the address bar? I think thats the default router address on a network right? =\

ya i used to use 192.168.1.1 as my default gateway address but for some reason when i put it in the address bar it just says the page cannot be found. also when it used to work, the password you needed to put when you into the default gateway website it wasn't working anymore after awhile. plz help ZSNO.

Can somebody please help me portforward a modem that is combined with a router? Everybody tells me host a server and then ask somebody to tell me if the servers dead or not. -.- Please help.
