Author Topic: WTF, Punch Packet?  (Read 4011 times)

With the new technology of v14, port forwarding is no longer necessary!

Thanks to the magic of...

PUNCH PACKETS!

With THESE suckers, you don't need port forwarding!
Just sock it to 'em when they don't see it coming and boom! You'll be able to connect to their server without any port forwarding on their end!
Side effects may include arrest for aggravated assault, attempted murder, internet fights, real fights, fights, chicken fights, dog fights, cat fights, plane fights, Northwestern Blue Pine Tree fights and injuries are possible. Stop use and call a doctor if you have an erection lasting longer than four hours. Don't use Cialis if you use nitrates for chest pain as this may cause an unsafe drop in awesomeness, probably because you have erectile disfunction.

No but seriously it's just part of v14's UPnP usage. It's nothing dangerous.

Same problem. The "No port forwarding" update doesn't work at all (In some cases it works).  You need to port forward. Badspot has failed YET AGAIN!

COME ON!
double post for no edit.

Badspot didn't fail. You have an old router that does not support UPnP.
Solution: Research a little bit.

Ok, so I try to make a server with V14, and when people try to join they IRC me saying it says Punch Packet over and over again.  And they cant join.  Wth do I do?
If you have tried to port forward before v14, remove all port forwarding settings related to Blockland.

If you haven't tried to port forward, try turning on UPnP.

If UPnP is not found anywhere on your router settings, then you simply need to either port forward properly, or get a new router.

As has already been said - It works for most people..you are just one of the unlcuky ones

But if port forward in the past worked you keep it?

How to I enable this UNuP?

Router config, Should be a circle that you can punch in.

If you use a mac and an airport router, you will have to portforward. Like me :C.

Can you give step by step instructions on how to find and do this?

No I'm not om mac

The router configuration page is completely different for each brand of router. Just look through your routers configuration and don't change any options until you find the option to enable UPnP. The only way you could mess something up is if you started changing other options randomly.

-_- I mean where is the router config page...

For most you can learn on portforward.com.

but I'm not going to portforward.  I said I want to enable unup.  Now where the hell is my router page?!?!?

Start->run->cmd-> ipconfig
After that, look for an something called "Default gateway" and write down the number next to it, it should look like 192.168.1.1

Open up your web browser and type in http://192.168.x.x <- replace "x's" with your numbers
That is how you access the configuration page for your router. it will then ask you for a username and password. Assuming it is still the default go here: http://www.routerpasswords.com/ and select your router manufacturer from the list.

Itstuffs that complicated...?

I'm not gonna do it if I have to search for everything..
