General Discussion / Tactical Mayhem - A serious TDM
« on: March 29, 2013, 02:20:33 PM »

Tactical Mayhem was started last summer, as was supposed to be a serious 4v4 TDM Tournament. It never took off the ground and because of this I have decided to bring the map and play style back as a serious TDM server, instead of a full on tournament. Though if it gets highly popular it could become one.

I spent this morning configuring everything so it should be all set for serious deathmatching, though many don't know what true serious deathmatching is. I'll describe it as so:

In this gamemode, you are with a team of four, one of you being a leader. You have one life. Everyone starts with a bullpup, a pistol, and a flash grenade. There are two more weapons that have a respawn time of sixty seconds in your base, a pump shotgun and a sniper carbine. (Protip: give these weapons to the ones on your team best with them!) The map is the exact same on each side and has corners, roofs, rooms, etc to support teams that work together.  Work with your team and fight to the death, best out of 3 wins (unless decided otherwise).

There is also a mumble server that teams are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to join and use for better communication.

This server WILL be private, and always passworded.  If you would like to join, contact me. If it's popular enough i'll add a spectator team to watch and get shuffled into play.

Here is how getting into a game would work:
Once all 8 players are in the server, I will elect two leaders. Those leaders will then simply play the choose your teammates game back and forth until it is finished. This also counts as warm-up time. I then reset the mini and it starts. Best out of 3 win (no prize though :c).

Any cheating or misbehaving will result in a ban as determined by administrators.

The map we play on is one that Monkeyboy and I built last summer, it is very well done and very fun (heavily ripped off of a tf2 map though).
Here are some pics (click for bigger):

Here is a video made last summer of what it was to be showing some fighting:

This topic is mainly to get people aware that believe they are tough enough to join the fight, as I said, contact me In-Game (BL_ID = 11977), steam (Munkurious), or PM this account!
If you are one to be able to join, more info will be given to you in-game.

tl;dr
i'm hosting a more serious TDM than most, if you think you are tough enough to join read it all

this topic also isn't very well made so deal with it don't yell at me :c

General Discussion / Blockoworld 2013 - CANCELED ! View OP
« on: March 27, 2013, 02:30:36 PM »
The final booth building day was supposed to be Monday, July 15th. I opened the build to boothholders on April 5th.

This is 101 days of build time for booths.

Out of 30+ signed up, there are currently 5 done.

Due to this low number of booths I am canceling Blockoworld for now on.

Thanks

|| How are we Different? (About)

Vokor has recently expanded. We started as a simple Blockland clan, and this is what it was then:
Quote
After watching lots of clans try and start but fail soon later, I wanted to investigate why. I never got to a reason, but I believe I have found a reason to keep one going. Clans are a group of people that do stuff together, but most clans think these need to be driven by the leader, to be a 'clan project'. Cineblock Studio actually had the idea I am thinking of going for a while, but is now closed. I feel like clans need to be used more as a 'resource'. For example, say you are working on a project and would like some eventing help. You can come to this topic, look at the Blockland players who say they have skill in eventing, ask one of them to help on steam, and you have your help! This clan isn't to do big projects as a clan, we are to help members do their own projects. We help each other reach their goals in Blockland. Yes, this clan is more of a community of people than a clan.

tl;dr We want to help in each others projects, not have large clan projects.

We have now expanded from that to be a gaming community, that is currently filled with mostly Blockland players. We will keep a Blockland division of Vokor that tried to keep the idea in the quote above going. We try to play games together, have contests, and all that jazz.

|| How to Join?

-Joining just Vokor is extremely easy, just tell a member/admin and have a moderator invite you to the steam group!

Joining the Blockland division of Vokor is very simple, simply impress some of the members enough that they recommend you to the admins. Then you will be reviewed by the admins, and if you turn out to be cool and skilled at something, your in!

Remember the difference between the two being that to be part of the Blockland division, you have to show us that you have some skill in something Blockland related, where being part of just Vokor means that you get to play with us. :)

Gallery / [Blockoworld 2.0] Boom's Event Contraptions
« on: August 05, 2012, 11:56:12 PM »
Boom's been building some Event Contraptions for the upcoming Blockoworld 2.0. He has more contraptions than will fit in the Lobby, so he wants me to poll users to see which ones should be in the Lobby, and which ones should just be scattered across the Convention Center.

For those who don't know what these Event Contraptions are, here's the information on each one:

Boom Box

How To Use:
  • Click either of the equal signs on the stereo to advance through the various tracks.
  • Stand on the dance floor and shake it!

Checkers

How To Play:
  • Click on any cell to cycle through the Checker states. Use this to simulate checker movement.
  • Checker pieces may move diagonally in the direction they face at the beginning of the game.
  • Kings (double checkers) are attained when a checker reaches the opposite side of the board. Kings may move backwards.
  • You may capture pieces by passing over them diagonally into an empty space. You can perform many captures with one piece.

Objective:
  • Win the game by capturing all of your opponent's pieces.

Connect Four

How To Play:
  • Click the top plate on any column to drop a piece there. Pieces will always go to the lowest possible position
  • Take turns with an opponent and try to beat them!

Objective:
  • Be the first to connect four pieces in a row in any direction, including diagonal

Draw Pad

How To Play:
  • Click any color on the Color Pallette, then click any cell on the grid to change its color

Free-Throw Challenge

How To Play:
  • Once the game starts, Click and HOLD to increase your throw power. Release to shoot!

Objective:
  • Shoot the ball into the hoop!

Lights Out

How To Play:
  • Click any cell on the grid to flip its state along with the non-diagonally adjacent cells around it.
  • All cells have 2 states: Black and White.

Objective:
  • Turn all of the cells to a dark state.

Lights Out 2

How To Play:
  • Thought you had what it took to beat the original game? Then this is for you.
  • Click any cell on the grid to cycle through its states along with the non-diagonally adjacent cells around it.
  • All cells have 3 states: Black, White, and Gray.

Objective:
  • Turn all of the cells to the final, black state
  • This puzzle remains unsolved. If you solve it, let me know!

Reversi

How To Play:
  • Click on any cell to cycle through the Orthello states. Use this to simulate your moves.
  • Pieces are captured and turned to your color when a newly placed piece sandwiches pieces of the other color.
  • All moves MUST capture pieces. If you can't, your turn is skipped
  • The game ends when neither player can make a legal move, or the board is full

Objective:
  • Win the game by having the most pieces at the end of the game

Romani Fortunes

How To Use:
  • Click on Romani to hear your fortune. Perhaps she'll tell you just what you need to know.

Speed Click Challenge

How To Play:
  • Once the game begins, click the green pad as fast as possible within the time limit
  • Multiple people can play at once, so grab a friend and beat the high score!

Objective:
  • The more times you click the pad, the more the Tower lights up. Try and light up the entire Tower!
  • Once you're able to easily light up the Tower, try to beat the high score!

Tower of Hanoi

How To Play:
  • Click the top Disk of any stack to move it to another stack.
  • Selected Disks will remain on the table to the side. You may only move one Disk at a time.
  • Take notice of the Disks' starting position. Colors on top are less than others. This order is the same as the Paint Can.
  • You cannot place a great valued Disk on a lesser valued Disk.

Objective:
  • Move all Disks to the right most column

Walls

How To Play:
  • Click on any line to turn it Red or Blue
  • Take turns with another player, and try to be the last person to wall in one of the boxes
  • If you capture a wall, it will fill in your color, and you will get to go again

Objective:
  • Capture the most boxes at the end of the game

Alright! I know it's quite a bit to take in, but please go over everything before voting.

Currently everything is being hosted on my Blockoworld Server. If you want to check out any of these games, join my server.

Know that you'll need your ID to be approved, as Blockoworld hasn't opened yet, so only Slot Holders will be able to join the server. However, Boom will be hosting his own server for those who aren't allowed on my server yet.

Feel free to discuss the various Event Contraptions in this thread. If you think an Event Contraption could be improved somehow, or has something wrong with it, let me know! Boom is also open to any suggestions or requests for new contraptions.

For the most up to date version of this thread, go here. You can also reach Boom there. However, he'll be reading this thread too.

Games / Ghost Recon: Online [F2P] - Open Beta
« on: August 02, 2012, 02:00:03 PM »

ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER

INFORMATION

Quote from: Ghost Recon: Online Wikia
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online is an upcoming multiplayer free-to-play class based third person shooter for the PC and Wii U. It is being developed by Ubisoft Singapore, and is currently in Closed Beta.

Classes

Quote from: http://ghostrecononline.wikia.com/wiki/Classes
Classes are the main stay of the game. They each have their own weaknesses and strengths, specific weaponry, and specialized abilities. It is essential for a team to have a diverse class setup in order to win. The only three things the classes have in common is that they all have secondary pistols, grenades, and unique abilities. Note, the player selects their class before going into a match, once in a match the player is stuck to this class for the entirety of. The only thing/things the player can change in match are their weapons and abilities.

Assault
Assault class is medium built and they exhibit the best of the other classes, Recon and Specialist. There main role is to fight, be in the thick of things. Assaults choice of weapons include Assault Rifles and Shotguns. The abilities available for the class are Blitz and HEAT. Blitz allows the player to rush an opponent with a shield and knock him down. HEAT causes a microwave affect which stuns the enemy and if in very low health will kill the opponent.

Recon
Recon class is light fast and nimble. Their main role is to provide sniper support or infiltration capabilities. Recons have access to Sniper Rifles and Sub-machine Guns (SMG). The abilities available for the class is Cloak and Oracle. Cloak, should be shelf explanatory, it renders the player invisible to some extent for some period of time. Oracle, is a sonar like technology that detects the enemy and highlights them for you and your teammates.

Specialist
Specialist are the heavy and sorta slow. Their main role is support. Specialist have access to Light Machine Guns (LMG) and Shotguns. The abilities available to this class are Blackout and Aegis. Blackout is an area of effect EMP discharge that stuns your opponents and fries their abilities. Aegis is a force-field that is generated in a bubble format and deflects both bullets and grenades. The bubble is big enough to encapsulate several teammates as well as the specialist that generated it.

More information to be added later. If you want to know it now, you can ask me about it or read it off of the wikia.

Modification Help / Complete Text - Alpha
« on: July 27, 2012, 12:16:51 PM »
Last night I decided to figure out what Clockturn's nmhcomplete.cs really did (it is included in his Advanced Client Chat add-on on RTB). After figuring this out I was determined to make it work with something, and after many hours of work, it does.

If you don't know what it does:
Quote from: nmhcomplete.cs
Code: [Select]
// Appends a grey 'suggestion' to the chat box.
// When the user types, if it matches the suggestion it will type along with it.
// If they backspace, it removes the suggestion.
// If they press enter, it inserts the suggestion as actual text.

Right now I have it working simply with giving suggestions of names of players on the server.. When you join a server and your player is made (more specifically when playGUI is woken up), it takes the player list and adds it to a list of words it can use. It only supports 1 word names, though it will attempt to do others. It also has a lot of debug spam.

I also fixed part of nmhcomplete.cs so that when you start typing another letter you don't have to retype it (unless you messed with it before you won't understand this).

I would love to see this get farther than what I got to with the help of the community so I am releasing my version here. If you do make some code for this or fix my bugs, please let me know.

Question: What do you mean a project?
Answer: By Project, I mean anything in Blockland that you are working on. Say you are creating a new gamemode and want to show of part of the build or game you are making, you can do that here! Or if you are making a add-on/mod that you want to bring awareness to.

Question: What happened to TomTheGeek running Blockoworld?
   Answer: View this post:
Quote from: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=195609.msg5595507#msg5595507
We handed off BlockoWorld to Munkey, the hoster of BlockoCon, because I am planning on doing many many things after.

We hoped to make this a good BlockoWorld, but sadly that wasn't fulfilled.

Though I would like to mention a few things.

Why these things are hard to host.

The first thing is getting the server ready. You don't know how everything will go from day 1. As soon as users are allowed to do anything, it's going to become a nightmare.

You don't know how much effort people put in to these things. Comblock went through two booths, but it looks like complete crap. Pecon7 wins the award from me, "Best booth after x amount of retries." They tried 3 other times but couldn't get it right. It was getting to my nerves but his booth came out nice later on.

ARES won the award from us, "Being loving on time." They were done on before the July 21st opening date. If more people took it seriously like ARES, we wouldn't have a lot of problems like right now.

I had alot to say about next year, but really the stress killed it away and I do not want to host another BlockoWorld next year.

It was a great 4 years with BlockoWorld, and I'll still help out with the newly run BlockoWorld next year.

For booth holders, thanks for submitting, we appreciate the help.

Thank you all for coming last night (except the starfishs who exploited the duplicator), locking the thread.

Blota started as a main menu replacement that was going to look like TheBlackParrot’s desktop. Since then, it has changed to look more like the Ubuntu desktop. Once we created the ‘top bar’, I thought about putting that over while you are playing. I did it, and TBP and I started to love it, so we expanded on it. So before you call it a ‘new desktop’ or ‘main menu replacement’, also say that it is more than that.

  •     Number of players playing, and online in RTB Connect.
  •     We plan to add more, but that’s all there is for now.

Games / [NA]League of Blockland - LoL InHouse Game v2
« on: June 14, 2012, 12:15:57 AM »

Some wonderful chaps over in the League of Legends megathread (and by some chaps I mean like, me and one or two other guys) thought it would be an awesome idea to have a Blocklanders-only match of league of legends. We would have people sign up for teams and team captains, decide what roles they should play, or some sort of ballywho like that. Hell, maybe even get someone to spectate and record/broadcast the match for stuffs and giggles. We'll just decide when to play whenever both teams are filled.

I am running this one since the Doktar told me that he will most likely not set up another.

We will have two captains, first come first serve, and they get to pick their teams based on the 10 players/backups when the match comes. You can sign up to be a captain, player, or backup. My mumble server will be used as voice communication, the info will be given out on game day.
