General Discussion / Re: 1.03 is out

The new tutorial is pretty good. It will be much easier to introduce the game to other people now :)

My only gripe is that it kinda lets you go without warning at the very end, which can be a bit confusing. All around its pretty nice though.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: roblox features

Some ideas:

make something where people can make models and builds, and save them onto this thing. then when people in main menu can hook up to the Internet and download builds and models instead of downloading them off the forums.
I was thinking about a feature like this recently myself. It could be like an internal "approved add-ons" downloader. Imagine a screen that displayed a list of recommended add-ons that you could just select then click "install", and it would go download/install the requested add-on for you. Also, maybe a rating system built in so you can easily pick the best mods to try out first, and rate your favorite mods (e.g., give the light saber mod 5 stars/bricks)?

Add-ons would probably have to be hand picked and put into the system manually by moderators, to prevent exploitation and to make sure everything is set up properly for automatic installation. But two good things would come of this:

- Strain on the player-hosted servers would be relieved, as most add-ons would be downloaded off of the official blockland "add-ons" server.
- A certain level of quality would be maintained (No crappy add-ons)

This would be an easy way to keep placing new, high quality content into the game without badspot having to make it and put it into the base install himself.

make it where people can use screenshots of there build, so people will get to see a little of the build instead of having to go see them self and maybe end up wasting there time.
This is a surprisingly cool idea, imo. Maybe the latest "screenshot" the admin takes could be scaled down and turned into a small jpg or something, which will show up as a preview in the lobby when the player hovers his or her cursor over the game in the listing. Some would say this might detract from the "exploration factor" of the game. But I think if you could see a small bit of a really cool build, it would entice you to travel to the server to check more of it out.

Above all though, I think the accessibility of the game should be worked on (blockland really needs something like an interactive demo tutorial)

Yeah that was fun. Anybody get a pic of ONeill's dance factory? (aka lag factory)

I call him droid.

Also attached first retail build. Which yes, hosted many occurrences of steamy brown town love.

I do believe the demo has multiplayer, but it is LAN only

Yo badspot, just so you know, the key got caught by my spam filter!

You may want to post a notice somewhere on the buy page for buyers to check their junkmail

good initiative.. But maybe wait until retail is launched?

Also, you would probably do good to reword it.. The submission sounds like an advertisement

Certainly not the worst thing that could happen.. Anyone remember that the Half Life 2 launch was set back time and time again?

A bad launch is forever, however, delays will all be forgiven at release ;)

Besides, in a few weeks, it will be exactly two years ago that eric pitched the game to GG (according to the news archive. 4th from the bottom)

While we wait, who's up for some :nes:

When using Internet Explorer, click Tools (at the top) and go down to Internet Options.  Click the Security Tab and there is a button called Custom Level.  Click that and go through it and I belive somewhere it allows flash.
Use firefox/Opera and stop giving webdesigners/yourself a headache.

Amen to that! :)

5 more days till Retail! :o Time is flying like a yeti on fire

Hey badspot. I just wanted to say, the depth of field effect for screenshots is a fantastic idea! (and looks surprisingly good)

Double peg legs ;)

I love the style of the horse it looks great. Everything seems to be shaping up nice visually.

And the "sound" blocks.. well, sound like a great idea :) I think the people over at Second Life have a similar feature where you can have sounds playing from objects (My sister plays the game quite a bit)

Woah I must have somehow missed this thread way back in february.

Any updates you'd like to add BS? What's your status with GG? Anymore contact with lego?

That would seriously be uncool if they are now developing their own game similar to that of BL.

It was not too bad, although the idea got kinda dry after the first one.

Certainly above par to most computer games videos posted on the internet. I enjoyed it.

The progress is looking fantastic. One of the games I will be looking forward to purchasing in the coming year or so (alongside supreme commander ;)

There wasn't a wand for 0002, and there isn't one for retail.
I'm guessing RTB will be putting that back in.
For all we know the building process could have been revamped to a point where one isn't required. Can someone who has played the recent beta comment on this?

Personally I don't even use the wand as I feel it detracts from the "you're a minifig building with bricks" look and feel. If you want no geometric restrictions on what you're building, go use a real 3d modelling program. :P
