Re;zero is p good

latest episode was pretty heartbreaking. Also the whole thing that always bothered me about groundhog day style plot lines is that what someone did before time repeated literally does not matter and the other characters besides Subaru are going to constantly be stuck in a situation where they have no idea how he knows so much about them. It's going to take good writing to explain that away and most of these types of plots don't really have that.

Also they have no explanation for why or how *SPOILERS* he got sick the first two times in Rosewaal's mansion. Did Rem poison him, or did he die from a curse? How did Rem die? If they don't explain this then it leaves a pretty gaping hole in the latest plot arc, but they probably will. They have a ton of episodes left. *END SPOILER*

I don't want it to get too gimmicky and I'm glad it's a full two cours though. Given that the LN is still running you know there's not going to be any sort of resolution to the bigger mysteries in the series though.

Although actually the LN is licensed in North America by Yen Press... might have to check it out.

any of you guys watching High School Fleet? it turned out a lot more hella than i thought it would

It's great but you KNOW there's an asspull explanation lurking behind everything and I just hope it doesn't get too ridiculous. It also feels like they don't have anywhere near enough episodes for the amount of characters they have, something that Girls und Panzer accomplished only because every character was basically a stereotype and the fight with each school was broken up into like 2-3 episodes.

i wouldn't, honestly. i couldn't.

it's a horror anime, but the real horror is experienced by the viewer, not the characters

in that sense it's actually really groundbreaking 10/10 aoty

im not gonna use this to invalidate gold's argument butwhat the forget

Hello,

I have owned Blockland for a while now but never posted on the forums. I was directed to this thread by someone who does frequent these forums and I simply had to post because I'm tired of people recommending Spec Ops under the pretense that it is some sort of groundbreaking social commentary. It's not. It's a six-hour slog and you've seen it all before. You just haven't been told you're a horrible person for it yet. That's Spec Ops' only real gimmick, I'm afraid.

If you buy this game, you will either play it and think it's terrible and that you were lied to, or you will enjoy it and think about how wonderful and important its message is before promptly forgetting about it until the next Call of Duty comes out, reminds you that war shooters exist and that you like them, and someone asks you for recommendations of similar games.

If you do happen to remember it a month after you've played it through a grand total of one times and uninstalled it, you probably just have bad taste in video games.

Oh, hey, that was the day before Zombi registered apparently.
Smells like samecigaretteging.

paying 10 bucks to sockpuppet for one post is kinda sad
just like me

Do you really think that someone would purchase two copies of a game and not post on the alt at all for over a year just to whip it out as a last resort to win an internet argument about a bad game in a thread about another bad game?

The gameplay is supposed to be stuffty. It is a deconstruction of modern shooters. tbf, it was still much better than modern shooters though.

YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MAKING FUN OF THE stuffTY MECHANICS.

Okay. We can agree that the mechanics were bad, correct? And whether that was intentional or not, if you are interested in a game's mechanics and you feel that they're an important part of why you enjoy games, it's not too much of a stretch to say that you might have trouble enjoying Spec Ops: The Line, since it has bad mechanics (and we've agreed upon this). And bad level design. And is about 5-6 hours long in total. And all the other aforementioned criticisms. Although since I'm posting in a Call of Duty thread I probably don't have to worry about people who care about good game mechanics.

I also think it's kind of strange that we would assume a game is bad because the developers meant for it to be that way. That seems kind of silly to me. Maybe the game is just bad. Occam's Razor and all that.

As for the plot, I suppose it was just 2deep4me. Cheers.

Everything ZombiLoin is saying is right. There have been youtube videos deconstructing The Line's deep meanings. I even read a loving book some game journo wrote about how deep it is. Someone actually wrote a book about how Spec Ops: The Line is an artistic masterpiece that parallels Heart of Darkness, a book that most people who play Spec Ops will have never read and most likely never plan to.

Then I played the game, realized it was nowhere near as interesting as people were telling me it was, realized that the setpiece cookie cutter roller coaster level design was pretty much exactly what I found wrong with most video games today, realized that no matter how much I wanted to like the game there was no excusing its stuffty gameplay, and concluded that Spec Ops is just a very mediocre game that wanted very very badly to offer a pointed and meaningful perspective on the philosophical ramifications behind endlessly shooting digital bad guys with virtual guns in fake middle eastern settings. Oh nooo i'm such a bad person how do i live with myseeeelf

Once I understood how stupid that sounded (I said it to myself out loud) I went and played a better game. I would recommend MGS, or Killer7. They're kind of like what Spec Ops tried to do except not complete failures of actual game design.

Spec Ops' story is pretty entertaining I guess. Once. Seriously, if you buy this game, I dare you to play it twice. You will fall asleep.
