It does use the ELO system, that warowl video I linked explains it. The devs themselves have said the game uses ELO.

The game uses glicko-2, which is an adaptation of Elo. Also, Elo isn't capitalised, it's someone's name.

With the vanilla shaders on a 970 I consistently get 120+ fps and I can even enable AA in the nvidia control panel without issues. If you want you can disable the AA and use performance shaders which look nicer than the vanilla shaders instead and you should still get at least 80+ fps most of the time.

If you're trying to rank up go on US servers rather than EU servers because EU comps are much harder at each rank, so like EU nova 3 is probably the equivalent of US MG1 or something.

Source: Played a couple games on US servers and it was like smurfing
