General Discussion / Re: The Demo days

I played the game when it was free, so I already knew the game. I only got the game again this year. I went through the tutorial, thought about it, then bought it a few days later.

Note "other people's servers." Like I said, my friend used to run a server in the old days.

I know there's a save function, but there isn't a point playing online if you expect to have to build your stuff offline soon after you start building (because you can't just load stuff onto people's servers).

Wow that's really cool if it's really you who made that site, I remember seeing it while it was still active. (At least I'm pretty sure it was) If I remember right there were some building scripts there that I tried looking at before I could code.

Welcome back!

Unless you visited it when a big yellow box was on top, it was probably still up.

But on the topic of building scripts, how do you use them these days? fps\client\scripts\client.cs doesn't exactly exist anymore. I noticed that there was macro recording now though.

And on the topic of servers, which ones would you recommend? I'm kind of wary to build anything large on any server in fear that it may just disappear without notice. I don't remember that being much of a problem back then, but I also had a friend who was willing to host a server. Most of the servers I go to have people generally richarding around. Not much impressive building going on.

I used to play in 2005 and I had a Blockland fansite (the first!) but I left when badspot was considering to charge for the game. With the lack of features and horrible lag back then, I didn't really think the game was worth any money and so I left.

However, I had been considering whether I should buy the game over the past few months. Blockland had gotten better, and from what I saw, you could build more than a single house without the game lagging to death. I was a bit hard pressed to pay $19.95 when Gmod was $10 (which I already have). Regardless, I finally decided to get the game yesterday.

Hello =)
