• Join the default empire if you wish, or gather enough materials and venture out to make your own!
• PvP is allowed at any and all times, except inside of empire castles or near them UNLESS you wish to wage war and make enemies.
• ANY town rules can be established by said person who made that town
• You don't have to make a castle. Towns, villages, or hobo shacks will suffice!
• In order to get special benefits like trade routes or alliances, you must have at least 3 people in your town
• Establish a government system for your town.
• Bananas
• Don't want to be a nice guy or make an empire that's good? Hell, be a lone wolf and thieve stuff for a living, or make a thieves town
• Report any griefing to server admins
• Even establish a currency of your towns choice in order to pay those hard working people! Hand out jobs/roles. Plenty are available at the default castle for you to get a good start (and maybe a little extra).
  
  • Towns may specialize in a certain thing like crop production, cactus harvesting, etc. for a main trade-able item to other cities in need of them! (i.e. wood to dessert towns)
  
  ALWAYS ask admins before you attempt to start an empire, make a city/town/village, or any other big matter!

I'm not able to connect. It says the standard "Connecting to server" message for a while until it eventually just decides "No" as the operation times out. Is the server down or anything that I should know about?

IMHO, guns would ruin Minecraft. Whats the fun in playing if you can just shoot a pig with a laser guided missile?

There's an idea, gravel could be heated in a forge to make more cobblestone. You'd need twice the gravel for the cobblestone though, so 2:1. That'd give it a use and give us more useful stone.

I was thinking more along the lines of using 3-4 gravel to make flint. As I have huge stacks of gravel but can never find flint.

If you made a backup, just use that as your minecraft.jar. Otherwise you might have to reinstall Minecraft (Backup your saved worlds) as I think Betterlight overwrites some default files.

Just so you know, I just mentioned that the "Creeper Children" thing sounded interesting. I don't think we need a zombie-like mob that will most likely drop sulfur. Seems like to easy of a way to get it.

IMO what Notch should be doing is making gravel useful.

However, instead of a Kraken I think there should be Sharks that drop shark teeth that can be used in arrow-making as a subsitute for flint.

I agree.

I cringed when I saw the filmer misspell something.

I did the exact same thing.

haha this is awesome :D

I like how Notch pretty much openly insults the person filming.

But that mention of "Creeper Children" in the next update, and Slimes coming back was interesting.

Also, I disagree with Notch in his statement on the public's opinion of a Kraken. I think we could use a hostile water mob.

I was on my firends private server and we found squids pretty closeto our spawn.

THis save was made far before this update.

It was made before there were working enenmy mobs in SMP.

God, i hate the long reach of enemies in SMP... :C

SMP might be different but I haven't heard of any in SSP that do so.

Haven't seen a single squid.

Also it was fun transitioning in my 117 Day journal about how I saw "black creatures floating in the water and different shades of sheep wandering in from uncharted lands". I dislike updates this drastic. 'Cept I love them.

Squids don't seem to spawn in chunks generated prior to the 1.2 update. At least, I couldn't find any in my world until I sailed off and generated new chunks.

I don't know if this was in previous versions but, F2 now takes a screenshot and F3 displays information (Used memory, latency, location, etc.)
