General Discussion / Steam workshop or more organized add-on section?
« on: December 23, 2015, 02:46:12 PM »
We really need to organize the add-ons for blockland a lot more in the forums and if not then we need steam workshop.

As I see it, the add-on section is a pile of mess and its very hard to specifically find a certain type of add-on in it.....

And this is a huge problem especially for a game that relies so heavily off the community, in order to make this community stronger we need a overhaul of how we find add-ons for this game, not scrolling down forums to see the newest one! It needs to be organized and categorized!

And yes I know of community add-ons that helps in this department and allows you to download add-ons from in-game.......why doesnt bad-spot put that into the core of the game in the next up-date and just have it replace this pile of crap we call the add-on section cause every week its getting worse and worse.

It is really nice, like driveway.
Maybe you could add some floral or greens to the driveway?
Just a suggestion

Hello everyone! Yes I am still alive and this project is still in development.

Work on this project has been slow because of have other things in my life besides this but I still remain dedicated to this project.
At the moment, there is 17,000 bricks in this build. The planned brick count  for the final version of this map will be around 150,000.
I plan on buckling down and getting to at least 75,000 bricks 2 weeks from now.
After that I will allow help and will release many pictures of this WIP map.
I will showcase one image of what I have but please know that this is REALLY EARLY in development and it will look drastically more detailed than the image you are about to see.
I just feel like I have to showcase something just to give you a idea of the look this map is going for.

To be entirely honest I'm pretty sure this account is still supposed to be banned and SMF just had a hiccup or something, because my profile settings are still inaccessible. So I might just poof again, who knows!
In all seriousness I'm rather surprised to see threads like this still happening; it really is a monthly occurrence. This community seems just as active as ever, and it's been over a decade now. I see no reason for concern and it is really funny to me that other people, often rather new to the community, still think otherwise.

My original Bl-ID is in the 6000's...I am not new.

but blockland isn't dying at all, what evidence is there of it dying?

The fact that the community has gotten smaller and less people are playing online is a pretty good indication of a dying community.
Theirs defiantly stuff going on but not as near as much as it use to be.

Hello, I made this map:
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=214387.0
would provide the save file of that map buts its gone.....;C
My original bl-id was 6347 (not sure if that's exact number but something like that)

I re bought it on steam and now my ID is like some crazy big ass number.
I see this community slowly die a little every year.
I wanna bring back this community again because I loved blockland and still kinda do and I feel like the community needs more active members like it use too.( not saying there is no active members in the community, just not as much)
I'm working on a new map that's going to be amazing when finished...my building skills are a lot better than the link that leads to images of that map because I built that map years ago....
This new map i'm working on will hopefully spark some life in the community and make some old long term players start playing again or to aspire the newer players in blockland community to build something amazing and better.
I'm looking for a little help with the details of the upcoming map and once I'm done building the base/layout of the map  I will accept help with the project.
This project is estimated  to be around 150,000-200,000 bricks.
The map in the link was around 45,000.
Now brink count is not relative to the size of this map.
The brick count will be very high due to the detailed cubscape terrain and grass.
I don't use a duplicator for the terrain...because then the terrain doesn't look natural and doesn't look as good.
I do use duplicator for buildings/some set pieces.

The map is also island themed because your easily able to create the background with few bricks.
Ill have a few islands off in distance and water surrounding them...that's it. It looks nice, natural, and it's not to demanding.

If you want to help ill give you my steam username.

Style for terrian:Cubscape
Also its heavily halo themed.
Halo weapons and using halo player model that was actually  made not to long ago.

I specialize in building terrain, emitters , and the lighting for the environment/ builds.
But I'm generally just a good builder all around for anything.

It would be great if anyone helping would be good in building the buildings for the teams......kinda a halo theme to them but still there own thing.

I've put tons of hours into blockland since I was 12, now I am 19. I go on block-land on the forums every once in awhile to see how the community is going.
I miss terrains but I like shaders more
Kinda sad the community is not strong like it use to be. Everyone thought it would get bigger when it got on steam.
I miss freebuilds lol( hardly see em on servers now)
I miss the bigger active population a few years ago right after shader update.

I really wanna bring back this community again because I loved block land and still kinda do.

General Discussion / Re: When will Blockland support steam workshop?

Do you make mods and upload them to workshop?

No...but theirs a lot of people uploading and making them for workshop so I don't think its a big enough problem for most people....

Steam workshop would  be bad because there's no way to truly moderate the content that will be put on there as far as I can remember, which was one of the defining points of why we weren't going to have Workshop in the first place during the greenlight phase. Besides that, Workshop is an utter stuffhole for mod devs because it refuses to work 99% of the time, especially when attempting to apply updates.

Would you prefer having your addons work, or having to spend time finding them?

From my experience with workshop, most mods work fine....
