Off Topic / Nes Godzilla Creepypasta

A longs, surprisingly good creepypasta about the old NES Godzilla game.
It's pretty good, fairly long, and actually seems somewhat interesting.

It starts out rather typical and boring  (as far as vidyagame creepypastas go), but gets much better as the story proceeds. If you do try it, I'd reccomend trying to read it to the end, it gets pretty good.

So yeah.

Does anyone have any links to Bushido's OSR? All of the links up now either don't work or don't have an OSR version that works. If anyone could post a link that works, that would be appreciated

Help / SQlite errors and connection failures?

For some reason, my Blockland runs fine connecting to one or two servers, but on occasion a SQlite error comes up, leading my game to crash. The SQlite error is foreshadowed by the server list failing to update.

Off Topic / How can I tell if what I have is a cyst?

A few months ago I noticed this little brown spot on my upper arm, near my shoulder. It's small and brown and doesn't protrude much. It's kind of soft-ish, but it still has a definite feel to it, like a small and slightly soft stone. It's never painful and never irritates me otherwise. Is it a cyst, or is it something worse?

With DrenDran's Salvage Mod available, would a server that mixes ZAPT with the Salvage mod be a feasible, yet fun server? I came up with it while playing the zombie game show, when it occurred to me that it would be a pretty good idea. I thought that it would be good to mix a map suck as the Slopes with scattered brick areas. The players would have to venture out from a home spawn in order to get more bricks, which they require to withstand zombies that will be aggressively placed to spawn near the starting base. There would also be zombie spawns placed lightly between the routes for the brick sources and out in the open between routes/structures. This may also force them to coordinate, so that (as an example) one group could salvage for bricks and another could defend the home base. To give players incentive to stay at base, the base would start out slightly better-enforced and stocked than structures that could be cannibalized for bricks.

If players tried to migrate to a new base, then maybe an events system could be made to force more zombies to spawn or congregate towards the new area of player interest. While vehicles would be available for quick travel, none would be airborne. A gasmod would also be put in place to limit travel to some degree, and make payers try to put some vague form of planning into their movements.

Does anyone think this would be a functional idea?

Help / Blockland crashing upon turning off Player light?

The title explains it all. I get no console errors regarding the issue, my graphics card is new and up-to-date, and my console seems to show no errors.I'm running on a Mac. It's been happening for a while now, and it's been getting annoying. Can anyone help me?

Help / IRC not connecting?

For some reason, every time I start Blockland, I get an IRC message 'Link', which shows part of what appears to be an I.P. address and then a cut-off 'Throttled:Reco-" message. Every time I try to reconnect to the IRC, I connect, then disconnect immediately. Restarting BL hasn't helped. What's going on?

Gallery / Pliny's Diesel Locomotives

I built a bunch of diesel locomotives and I wanted to post them. I built them a while ago, but I got worried about build stealers. So here they are.

My U.S. diesel engine. It was based on a variety of models, but has side doors instead of front-ones due to some complications.




My British Railways Class 47/50 locomotive. It also lacks doors. It was actually a cobble-together of the two classes.



My British Railways Class 22 locomotive. I'm not quite happy with the front's transition into the roof. The interior is the same as the Class 47's.


All of them are on '6 gauge. The BR ones have buffers since that's the European coupling system, whereas the American does not due to the advance of knuckle couplers completely replacing buffer-and-chain systems in the U.S.

All of the stuff in the background is also mine and may be posted later.

General Discussion / Building locomotives

Recently I've gotten all "loco loco", as said by Lordician, and I've been trying to make various locomotives and rolling stock for them. I've actually made some good progress, with three actual locomotives and freight trucks/cars, and some narrow gauge engines with their own rolling stock ('6 standard gauge, '4 narrow gauge). However, I've been at a loss on exactly what to replicate, or what to be inspired by. I've tried to avoid building Diesel Multiple Units or electric locos, and I'd like some ideas for diesel locomotives and steam locomotives.

A relatively crappy 4-4-0 tender locomotive I made. I didn't base it off of any particular designs, although I feel that the cab is too high above the wheels, and that the tender is slightly messed up.

Help / Strange crashes unpon flashing my light

While playing Blockland, I often use my light to see bricks that are partially obscured by their shadow. Recently, however, I've foun that, if I turn on my light too many times in a row, the game crashes. This is a gigantic hinderance to building, namely since I use Squideey's Brick Textures, and often wind up losing progress on saves as a esult of this problem. I've tried reinstalling all of my recent Add-Ons, running only with default Add-Ons, and running only with extra bricks enabled. Can anyone help me?

General Discussion / Will the community develop beyond what it is?

Having browsed about, a lot of players and forum users have (obviously) been seeing the titanic influx of what appears to be moronic children and immature users (myself included). However, it still seems that there are pockets of players who are actually capable of being proficient and friendly. Reading from the veteran community about the purported 'glory days' of v8, I was willing to pose this question:

Will the community of Blockland ever regain its past status?

While it's true that there have been newer players who are intelligent to a desirable degree, the vast majority of new people hasn't been that way. But will that ever change?

General Discussion / Revisiting the "Visible Lights Issue"

As some may have noticed, there's an odd quirk with Blockland lights: You can only see a few at a time. Eksi visited this issue in a topic a couple of months back talking about it, but it didn't revieve much attention, and I'm reposting it here.

This is an oddly hindering aspect of the game because of the fact that it can destroy light-based ambiances, and easily makes builds utilizing many lights suddenly ugly or have obtrusive amounts of flashing. It also doesn't seem to serve much of a reason if it was purposely placed within the game. As stated by Eksi, an increase in the number of lights visible, or an option to increase this number, would be pretty useful and allow for much greater use of ambiance and light effects.

Post opinions and suggestions on the matter here since Eksi's thread is now too old to post in.

In simpler terms: If you have more than seven lights on your screen at once or around you, you will only see the flares of some, while the actual light is not seen.

Suggestions & Requests / More Dark Lights?

Despite the presence of ZSNO's pack of lights, there don't seem to be any individual packs of negative lights in multiple sizes. These would be fairly useful for builds where light is more controlled or manipulated, but it doesn't seem used often, except by Eksi and Squideey. Does anyone have any links or packs or whatever that have multiple dark lights?
