Star Trek. It's more realistic than Star Wars and it lasted longer. Where else are you going to find a race completely dependant on assimilating other races?

Yeah, but Star Wars is based "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away".
So, realism as far as technology is concerned doesn't really count.

I vote Star Wars, anyways, simply because it was more prominent in my child-hood, even if it was the prequels.
