It lets you play single player just fine.
And it's Stargate, not starcraft. there is a difference that cannot even be explained between them.
To remove the main menu stuff, just go to garrysmod/materials and delete the folder called "Console" (Gmod automatically remakes it upon startup), and then go to Garrysmod/sound/ and delete the folder called "ui".
Done, now stop complaining. I might have the server back up.
The soundpack goes in addons and the map folders go in garrysmod/garrysmod.
