You can ignore people's opinion on music, you cannot say that they're a bad person by what they like listening to.
Some of those bands that you said are "bad" I don't care for myself, but it doesn't mean bashing somebody for liking it.
It's not even that she's a bad person. I just can't understand how you can like such stuffty music and then have such amazing artists that had such a profound effect on music.
The only explanation that I can come up with is she listened to their most popular song and say that they like the entire band. It's like "Sweet child o' mine is a good song... I'm going to put Guns N' Roses on my Favorite Music page!"
This is why I make sure to
at the very least be familiar with work from the artist that isn't mainstream. For example, I can't personally say that I like The Who because I like all three CSI theme songs. I feel it would be offensive to people who actually
do really like the who.
I have a friend who really likes AC/DC. He can name from memory some of their most obscure and little known songs and has all of their albums. He would definitely call himself an AC/DC fan. Would it be fair of me to say that I am also an AC/DC fan because I like the song Back in Black and haven't heard any of their other work?
