Author Topic: Question about Garrys mod...  (Read 994 times)

I'm planning to buy Garry's mod sometime tomorrow or whenever I can.. Just curious. I boot into Windows Vista whenever I want to try a new game that isn't for mac yet. Do I need content files for games or do I just need to own them? I have the TF2 content files downloaded since I would play it on bootcamp when it didn't come out for mac.

Is it possible I can play Garrys mod using only TF2 files?

Garrys mod requires any source game to play. Since you have TF2 installed you can get GMOD, However you will need other source games for more props. So for now you will have to stick with TF2 props and the ones that come default with the source engine(crate, barrel, soda machine, ect).

You don't need content files, Gmod magically gets the content.

Assumeing that LEGALLY owns a source game.

Are you being sarcastic? Please be serious... I don't want to reinstall TF2 after deleting it just because you were trying to be funny...

I do own HL2 and CS:S aswell, but only TF2 is installed on my Windows Partition...

BUT. Maybe it can recognize files on a separate volume on my HD? (Doubting it).

Of course I was sarcastic, and it can't.  it automatically downloads HL2 content.

All of it minus the characteres and some stuff.

Assuming I don't whore addons.. how much space will it take up..

Not too much.  I don't know exactly.

Okay... Purchasing... Tf2 and HL2 content seems good enough.

Also, it's coming for mac very soon.

Then I'll already have it when it comes out.

I don't mind installing something to play it sooner. Is cool bro.

Plus, since the source engine is new to our OS they are working out kinks with our drivers... So it lags a bit more then Windows, but that has been fixed pretty well on CS:S.
