Fallout New Vegas problem

I'm having sound issues with NV, for example someone says "Hello" but i don't hear it and about 1 minute later i hear it even though no one is around. same goes for all other sounds.

my game has crashed a couple times because of this

what can i do to fix it without spending money

You probably have an integrated sound card. Throw away that stuff and get a new one.

It's most likely a driver/game issue.

You know, unless your motherboard is really old on-board sound works fine.
