Author Topic: Pirates of the Caribbean Online - Thread revived!  (Read 686 times)

I'm sure most of you remember the Pirates thread I made a while back. As a band of pirates and friends, we ran across the land with swords and all fighting off skeletons, guards, and the sort.

Well, get ready, cause we're gonna try it again!

Here comes the copypasta.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online, sometimes shortened to Pirates Online, or POTCO, is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), created by The Walt Disney Company, based on the film series and theme park attraction of the same name. The game is the second MMOG developed by the Disney Online Studios - Los Angeles section of the Disney Interactive Media Group, after Toontown Online (which launched in 2003).

The game was first announced by The Walt Disney Company on April 26, 2005.[1] It was originally scheduled to be released in summer 2006, to coincide with the release of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,[1] but its release was pushed back multiple times.[2] The game went through two beta testing phases during 2007 and was officially launched on October 31, 2007.

The game is free to download and play, though the version available to players with "Basic Access" only has a limited number of weapons and skills. In "Basic Access" the pirate can only go up to Notoriety Level 20; while in a membership the pirate can go up to Notoriety Level 50. By paying an initial fee of $4.95 USD and $9.95 USD for each additional month (or discounted 6-month and 12-month subscriptions for $49.95 and $79.95, respectively), players gain "Unlimited Access", which allows for the full set of features and character advancement beyond the limits of "Basic Access". Game cards can also be purchased $ 9.95 USD For one month, $ 24.95 USD for three months.

The game is officially available to players in the United States, United Kingdom (basic access only), parts of Mexico, and Canada. The game runs in the Panda3D graphics engine.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online is also the only MMORPG that offers players the 3-D Secure option (since September 2009).

Sure I might as well join. I don't play as much as I used to but,

Name: Captain K Jones

I don't feel like playing, but I wonder if I still have this installed :o

bump because you won't?

This looked like garbage when it came out.

Beta and test servers were really the only fun things, but I was left out of the free membership that came with the test server.
I sent tons of complaints and they said "We need some people to test the free world also"
And Im like :p
