Author Topic: My hill+icy weather = Chaos  (Read 500 times)

Alright, so I had a delay today, no big deal, so normally my friend's mom picks us up, she made it half way up our hill and slid all the way back down. My dad wanted to see if we could go down, so we drove to the top of it and were slipping before we even got there, so we decided not to go...this isn't the problem though, I share this hill with 5 other families...we already knew the hill would be icy, they don't..this may be bad.

I live in a river valley, my house at the top of one. The hill going down is fairly steep next to a college and then less steep down to the bottom, but it can be motherloving dangerous when the weather doesn't cooperate. There's a road branching out where the main road goes from steeper to steep and people always try to turn there and end up sliding into the median... when it gets icy and they try to drive up the hill, someone always does something stupid and tries to turn left on to it but they don't use the turn lane so all of the traffic slows down or stops and they can't get going again. Its funny looking at these idiots trying to floor it and just ruin their tires.

-snip-

I can't believe how bad some roads get though, it's like driving to where you want, or die trying.

Its worse for me because when it gets like that the cause is usually freezing rain which effects the sidewalks when I walk to school. It also usually lasts longer on the sidewalks. :(

That sucks man, I can only imagine.

I've gotten stuck driving up a hill on a snow mobile if that counts ;o

where i live we don't get much snow :C but the scariest thin i cam remeber is having a sled type thing and going down a hill to fast. (i was like 7-8)

I live in Florida :(

The only ice I see is in dead winter and it is on the cars.

This one time the sidewalk froze in front of my school and my friend ran across it and went flying, though.

That was hilarious.

Yeah. There was a ton of snow and the front ends got stuck in the snow. Had to pull them out manually... it sucked.
