Anyone with Home theatre system experience, read this

For some reason my home theatre system refuses to produce sound through side speakers, only main front speakers function. but the ONLY way i can get side speakers to work is on "Music" listening mode, which sounds like stuff.

suggestions?

I've set up multiple home theater audio configurations, and my only thing that I can suggest is that you make sure to double check that the reciever is utilizing all 3.1/5.1/7.1 set up.
