My computer does this.
If you just put it to sleep (which is the default setting when you hit the power button), and action. Many ANY action, will wake the computer.
This can range from pressing a key, moving the mouse, a virus protection software doing a silent check, or anything else, no matter how small, or how big.
Basically, if something requires your computer to think, it's going to wake up.
