New antivirus today!

I just got gifted a copy of Avast Pro today! I was using the free one up until today, but my father gave me a AV he doesn't need anymore.

Any directions on the transition from old to new? Will viruses react if I uninstall it in Safe Mode? Does the Pro edition eat more ram?

Maybe the Pro Version is not as stuffty? Maybe it doesn't have a glitch that prevents it from updating?

Pro wont effect your RAM usage. If you set it for a hostile environment, it will use more RAM. The difference is more features. (ex. Firewall, Anti-Spam, Anti-Network Attack, etc.)
