Author Topic: How to install XP back on my old laptop?  (Read 640 times)

My dad installed Linux on my old laptop. How would i put it back on?

the laptop doesnt have a CD port
It has USB and SD card ports.

the linux he installed was Gnome.

I need XP back for some stuff, but i cant install it back on.

get a USB to CD port, i sweat they have those.

well "usb to cd port" isn't a very good way to describe it, but that's the right idea. there's external CD drives that connect to the computer via USB. you'll also need your XP install disc, obviously.

boot it off of a usb drive.

I have no clue what that is.

But my old desktop has an XP install disk

boot it off of a usb drive.
It doesnt read the ISO or whatever format i used for the XP install.
I got it off microsoft website.

I'm all out of money, so buying an external CD drive isn't an option.

I have an 8GB USB drive, and some SD cards, Can someone link me the download to an XP setup file?

We could, but that would be illegal... Too bad Microsoft doesn't just give out their previous version if its older 8 years old.
