Ping tool like in Portal 2 co op.

Something that when you shoot it on a surface, it creates a small little "look here" emitter and disappears after a few seconds.

I know, I know, theres already a Portal 2 suggestion thread, but nothing little like this is going to get made from being suggested in this thread.  I know this is an easy mod to make, and it really doesn't have to be Portal 2 related at all.  It's useful for any teamwork stuff.  Team leaders could have it in TDM to lead a squad.  It's useful for a lot more than Portal.

Maybe an option that will send a little "look here" message on the side of a player's screen if they're in the same team or squad or whatever as whoever sent the message.

A basic emitter would be easy. It wouldn't be that good, though, because there's so easy way for it to show through walls, on the side of the screen if it's not in your camera's view, and in the case of a TDM use, it would show to all teams.

YES.  I've been wanting it in so many games now that's I've played portal 2.

I'm not sure. It's not as useful if you don't have an arrow on your screen if you're not looking right at it, and if it was glaringly obvious, unless it's possible to make it invisible to other teams, that could be a bit of a problem for your tactics.

well I have no specific tactics, I just think it would be an incredibly useful tool.

Is there a way to make it point in the direction it is if you're not directly looking at it?

I wonder if it could work like shape names.. Although it couldn't go through bricks with raycasting turned on.
