Help, my sidewalk is turning into a gaseous vapor!

While going through town, I notice something slightly out of the ordinary: All the roads, sidewalks, paved surfaces, etc are steaming! Not sure why, they could have been hot and it suddenly rained, or something, but it was pretty bizarre. (Not to mention cool.)

I think he means steam like actual steam he can feel, not a mirage.

Yes, it was actually steaming. Like fog, only its really close to the ground, and not fog.

That happens sometimes after rain, and it starts to warm up. The water on the sidewalks are evaporating and rising up in "steam".

Not a mirage, I see it on the roof of my school all the time.

actually, tar does turn into gas, but after a rain the sidewalk evaporates the water as it is warmed by the sun.
