Call of Duty 4 main servers down?

I ask because I decided to boot up the PS3 because I felt like it.
It works fine after a year or so, so I decided to play CoD4 again. However when I try to load the gamemode list, it just keeps saying the:

"Downloading Game Data"
(or some stuff like that)

Are the servers down or is the PSN still going forgeted, cause one of me friends was playing Black Ops, so I assume it should work.

Also, why would you play Call of Duty 4? It's Call of Duty, you're supposed to ditch last year's version and get the new one as soon as it comes out.

No. Servers aren't closed down. Quite the contrary, actually.

Try connecting a little later. There have been minor connection problems due to small glitches in the network. I called Sony about it today, actually.

Oh good. Since I have no school tomorrow then I can try again.
To be honest, Call of Duty 4 is the only one I have enjoyed and still do.

MW2 is as hacked as forget and was fun before IW gave up.
Black Ops is just stuff.
WaW is in the same conundrum as MW2
