Also, how portable are HDD drives? I'm assuming it's HDD because there is no ssd as big as 1 tb... YET.

What do you mean sata drives? Almost all hard drives and ssds are sata besides expensive ones. I wouldn't get that hdd because its firewire which has had problems from what I heard. How big of an external drive do you need?

I too am on the market for an external HDD, although I think I'm going to wait until I buy my macbook and buy the apple cloud drive. Its a 1tb drive that I can access anywhere as long as I have internet. :o

Its technically not a cloud drive though since its a piece of hardware rather than software....

I'm using firewire because USB 2.0 is obsolete with USB 3.0 But I don't have the capabilities for 3.0. I got my Mac before Apple came out with Thunderbolt. So Im stuck with my firewire 800.
