CPU = processor.

It helps calculate everything and is critical to the game being run.  A high-end processor will work every game nicely, but you also need to have a high-end GPU too, and a decent amount of RAM.

The CPU is the brain.  It does all the math.

Yeah, and make sure it's the right kind. DDR2 won't fit in DDR3, and vice-verca.
