Author Topic: New CPU Won't Fit  (Read 1174 times)

I lifted up the bar to let the old CPU out, and comes out just fine.  But when I put a new one in, it won't fit.  I lined up the arrow properly but it won't fit.  So I tried putting the old one in and it slid right in.

wat do

Wrong slot number.

Did you seriously just buy a CPU with a different slot # then your motherboard?

No, I just had another computer with a better processor and wanted to put it in.

you have forgeted up now

Different slot.
EDIT: If it has a better processor, why not just put your stuff in that?

The case is extremely small.  It's a little bigger than a shoebox.

Obviously not if I'm posting from the same computer right now.

It doesn't fit because, well, it just doesn't fit. lol

Get a large hammer and pound it into place. It may be a 8TIF socket rather than a ZIF.

Well, you're smarter than an Apple Genius.

Did you even check if it is the right slot? If it is infinitely better like you are implying it is probably bigger or has a different socket.

The CPU socket type does not match with your new processor.  For instance Core 2 Duos and Core i3s use different sockets.

You have to do research to find out what CPU socket you have and what processors you can buy that use that socket.

External drive attachment wire anyone?

CPU? I'm also upgrading my machine. What's a CPU?

not possible.
Oh I thought he was talking about a hard drive not a CPU.
