Author Topic: I want to get Apple Certified.  (Read 1730 times)

I would suggest you stop arguing about the price, because there really isn't a huge difference. A high-end PC costs about as much as a Mac, because Mac's are high-end computers that come cleanly designed, running smoothly, and pre-installed with most of the software you would need.
I tested one of the high end Macs. I put together a list of equal parts, and they came to less than half the price of the Mac, and that's including the monitor, same size etc.
I personally think yes they should charge extra, but not that much. It's too much.

Microsoft hasn't given them anything. The peripheral support and ability to run Windows on a Mac is again just because that is how Microsoft sells their products. Microsoft Office is ported to Mac OS so they can get more sales on other platforms.
Once again, Apple has the most user-friendly OS, but for people to get that, they have to buy the overpriced computer. I don't think that's the right way to do it.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

We might, but like any good business, they want to max their cost out. It's how they make so much money. You said yes, they should charge more, but they're charging that extra little bit because they can. Because people buy it. It makes them the most money, and it's what keeps them a massive company.

Hey, you can say they're overcharging, and yes I know it's expensive, but people buy it. So they keep charging that extra bit. That technique is what made them have more money than the U.S. government at one point.

No, I want to be certified to fix apple hardware in the real world, and not just part time at a school. I don't take advantage of people, I give them the straight facts and troubleshoot as efficiently as I can.

Being an Apple Genius has nothing to do with how they advertise. Not to mention Apple is far from deceiving when you look at some other companies out there. Lots of companies straight up rip people off because they don't know any better, but I don't believe Apple has a reputation for being one of those companies.
Legitimate business's don't rip people off. It's not even in their best intentions. If they started to, people would notice and warn those who didn't, and then they would lose business. It's the majik of the market.

Though people would much more rather buy it if it was cheaper. Let's say it costs $1 to produce a box of apples, but you charge $6 saying that you "need" the extra money. The guy down the road realizes that apples cost $1 to produce and then sells them for $2. Everyone would flock to him, and though he is charging less per Box, He's selling more boxes and therefore making more money. Again, The market is a beautiful thing.

So you're saying you want to become a friend?

You people are starfishs, all this man wants to do is get Apple Certified, and you pricks turn it into a debate (like always).
Anyways, good luck on getting that certificate.

I should have anticipated the debate, knowing this community.

The problem with that is, yes they're kind of over priced, but they're not found anywhere else for a lower price. The way you explained it, it seems you believe other computer companies are retailing the exact equivalent of a Mac, when they aren't. They can sell it for a higher price because nobody else can sell the same thing for less. The metaphor you brought up isn't accurate of the situation at all, but i appreciate the intent.

So you want a certificate in deceiving advertising and taking advantage of people who don't know much?
this

Apple fits that description too!

What? No it doesn't, did you even read it?

Mac OS X is just BSD with Aqua and Apple's propretariary (in)compatibility layers.

Oh please, Apple has changed, added, and built on it so heavily its not even worth mentioning. Typical understatement from an MS fanboy.

Yes I did. For example, try comparing, say, MOX and Linux (or even Windows) or iOS and Android.

I'm not a "MS fanboy". Being anti-Apple doesn't automagically make me specifically pro-MS. That said, MS is clearly the lesser of two evils in this case.

you know
i heard they pay stuff tier wages

I was speaking about the company, not your preference of software. Apple does not relate to that statement, for one its one of the biggest and most successful companies in the world, if you had been reading this discussion we wouldn't have to go over this with you so you could catch up. Stay with us or get out.

I'm not a fanboy but I support MS over Apple. Rest my case.

You said Microsoft was playing catch-up with it's operating system(s). I said Apple was doing the same thing with both of their OSs.

And by the way, Apple is even bragging over MOX's UNIX heritage.

I would hate to work for Apple.

They don't brag about it, it's a selling point.

And by your logic, every company is always playing catch-up. Both companies are working to create the best operating system they can produce, so you can hardly call that playing catch-up.
