A study a while back found that toothbrushes left exposed in a bathroom with a toilet contained traces of fecal matter, theorized to be from the splash from the toilet when flushed. If you feel up the toilet seat and whatever else then use your phone, you are asking for trouble.

I use my phone before I feel up the toilet seat, then I don't touch it again until I leave. And my toilet doesn't splash at all when it flushes, how the hell is it going to spray stuff all the way across the room?
