Yes, the 1st/3rd/5th/7th cores are physicals and the 2nd/4th/6th/8th are virtual cores formed by forcing two threads to a core.  1st generation Core i7-930.

But you can buy an eight core from AMD...

Anyway, OP, do you have 2GB total RAM?
If so, 1GB for the OS is quite normal. Windows 7 64 on a machine with 3GB of RAM will hog about half of it.

Yes i have 2GB of ram
In that case, thats fine. I used game booster and it solved my problems with gaming. Thanks stocking
