Author Topic: Update SMF into version 2.0  (Read 1206 times)

Badspot needs to update to 2.0
2.0 Features New Tools that make being a mod easier(like a new Warning system and a Post moderation)
and a New more helpful help page.

I believe he purposefully avoided that because the upgrade is a much larger step than the 1.x versions, and would be much more time consuming and exacting. He might even have to rebuild most of the forums onto the new source.

but then we might even have a working search
I think it would be worth it for all parties involved

I suppose that's why you only get ten pages when you search for "lol"

Yes please. Not only does 2.0 have new features, such as a WYSIWYG editing mode and better signature regulations for admins, but sooner or later Simple Machines will stop supplying security updates to older versions such as 1.1 (if they haven't already).

1: WYSIWYG Editors are never perfect. When I'd edit for Wikia a lot, most of my edits ended up being cleaning up all the ugly artifacts the editor left which forgeted up the page. You can't easily automate post encoding with morons around.
2: If you check Badspot's signature, you'd notice he kept it mainly originally because he couldn't figure out how to remove it, probably without making other problems. He hasn't let us have post-visible signatures in many years, and for good reason. Signatures mean almost nothing here.
3: Badspot can create his own security updates. Not like he'd even need one, though. He locked down the board, you can't do anything but view without a serial.
