That's a terrible thing IMO
Why? Can the ultra-rich not afford it?

lol turned into politics argument

it's a known fact that the rich already pay higher income taxes already. Increasing it will not make anything better. Not all economists are idiots but the ones who are uneducated sometimes come under the misguided belief that Small businesses rope in tons of cash which is untrue. Small business is what makes the market and job opportunities go round. The Same can be said for certain Larger businesses as well. Wal Mart isn't small but have you seen the wages they pay the employees? Why do you think that is? Just because you are rich doesn't mean you won't have tons of bills to pay for the things WalMart NEEDS to actually be a superstore. Just think of all the side things that come with owning a house, you have the water bill, power bill, property tax etc.. WalMart ALSO has things to cover with the money they make. Sure, it's a billion dollar company but how much of that money do you think they actually get to use? Increasing taxes will decrease the employees pay, and make even LESS jobs. With the decrease in pay the incentive to work is also diminished and the unemployed increase in number.

TL;DR those companies that make millions of dollars don't exactly get to USE it all that much because of the things they have to cover.

*cough* ultra-rich individuals.

They can afford it, they are paying a lower tax rate then working americans anyway.

ex. walmart ceo has lower tax rate than average walmart worker

Walmart doesn't even bring in much profit as fast even if they are a multi billion dollar company. They have to sell like 35 different items just to make a dollar of actual profit.

Regardless, Individuals who own a business are generally thought by liberals to make a whole lot of money. They don't think ahead about how much actual "profit" that "ultra rich" individual actually ropes in that isn't spent on billing and other monetary needs. Thus why increasing the taxes can cause a lot of trouble on the wrong people and remove jobs.

CEOs and other high-ranking business executives can afford multiple houses and vacation homes. Yet you claim they barely squeak by. Doesn't seem like it to me.

Warren buffet has the right idea. He believes in giving away his billions to help end the US debt. If all of the United State's top earners spent their extra money on taxes as opposed to the obscene luxuries they can easily afford, our debt wouldn't be so hopeless.

I guess I'm more or less focusing on the "people who aren't actually rich even though they bring in a good amount of income" type people. My legal guardian is the CEO of a Bookstore and has made over 40,000 dollars in profit this last passing year. None of it went to a beachhouse or hardly anything he wanted to use it on. 40,000 seems like a lot but after it's covered almost all his living expenses, there's not much left for him to pay tax too. He's not ultra rich, granted, but quite a few ignorant politicians think he is. That's my only concern. People who don't need to be taxed quite possibly might end up getting taxed because people don't think.

Nice creativity topic y'all got here.

I think that the rich do need to get taxed more, but only slightly. If Obama had it his way, it'd be the Communist States of America. The gov. does need to plain old raise the taxes on everyone to eliminate the ever growing debt, on the rich and the poor. Look at Greece, they wanted low taxes and high benefits, and they got it, for a little while, and then everything went kaput. The U.S. is headed in the same direction. We need to make some sacrifices on internal benefits, military, and other various programs, and raise the taxes, so that the government can afford benefits to a smaller extent when we're retired. In the mean time, we need to hunker down and deal with because the United States Cannot Afford to continue as it is.

U.S. needs to tax more, spend less, make better investments. Everyone wants a ride without any bumps, but there's no such road. Give and take. Hunker down and make do until the storm blows over.

Anyhow, what do I know? Not enough to fix anything big, but enough to see the problem and offer a potential solution. I'm sure there are ther, better ways, but I'm too narrow minded to see them.

This has been Internal Politics with Plethora. Good night Blockland forums.

Seeing the alternatives I'd vote for Obama anyway.
