Author Topic: 64-bit version of blockland  (Read 2303 times)

For people that do not know blockland runs on/in 32-bit most computers are 32-bit but new ones and some old ones are 64-bit.

if your computer is 32-bit it can only use a maximum of 2gb of ram(memory) for an application to run(blockland in this instance). Where if you have a 64-bit computer it can use a maximum of what ever it wants(i think).

I have seen a post of someone who hex edited the blockland exe and was able to allocate it more memory(12gb).

What i am asking for is for badspot to make a 64 bit version of blockland as most computers now are 64 bit we could have a second download for 64-bit or just have the installer find out if the computer is 64-bit and if it is then install the 64 version.

I think with enough people saying yes this will happen, they(badspot and the rest of the crew) are talking about making blockland look better well dont you think that as we are moving forward in graphics that's its about time they made a 64-bit of blockland.

If a blockland user can do it by only hex editing, then why cant the creators of the game do it, right?

I'm just going to say this here right now,if it runs well why do you want it to run even more?Blockland is fine as it is for me and if the make a 64-bit version wouldn't it mean he would have to work twice as much? Also they've stated Blockland is made by a group of people not a whole office, also delaying updates, just go with the editing tutorial.

There's no point, except for what I did and that was just for a high-player server.

Download CFF explorer, open Blockland.exe

Navigate to NT headers, then File Header.

Click where it says "click here" under characteristics, then check "App can handle >2GB address space", and then save.

Note that the launcher will replace the EXE each time.

every time blockland up dates do i have to do this again

Uh, yeah. He said that in the quote.
So this would speed up blockland right? Mine's slow as hell and it really drives me nuts.

yes but by setting the exe's file attributes to "read only" when the launcher starts it will not overright blockland it does speed it up i have more fps

also you think its really hard this was the easyest thing ever to do

I'll give Kalph's suggestion a go. See what happens.

do it then set as read only so it does not get overwritten

It wouldn't do anything other than raise the memory limit, which is only needed for servers.

yes
