Author Topic: Google search links yield foreign sites  (Read 604 times)

Basically, that's all I know.
The roots of these sites are searchdynamic and vredsearch. I do not know how or why they are doing this, but whenever I click on a google search result, it redirects.
I found one article on this, on a website for this kind of thing, when I searched for vredsearch. The person fixed the problem, but I didn't follow how. Here's the link to the discussion.

Just now, to top it off, a svchost that I notice in the task manager has been taking up almost all of the CPU, and when I end the process or the process tree, it often comes right back. Firefox is also not running anymore, giving me an error.

I have other virus troubles as well, but they aren't urgent, as far as I can tell.

If you can help, please do. If you can't, don't bother.

Download an antivirus program such as Microsoft Security Essentials. Do a full scan. Set it to scan every night. Get rid of viruses.

You'll need this and more.
Rkill (Optional)
TDSSkiller (I needed this when I had this problem)
I had a problem like this recently and this helped greatly.

Have to leave this computer for the week, but thanks for the advice. I'll return to figuring out what's wrong once I get back.
However the vredsearch/IP change thing is still confusing me greatly.

Oh, and something, a process that I thought was probably a virus or malware of some sort turned out to be exactly that. Glad I got this, it should be a real help.

Also, those websites, thanks. I will use those as soon as possible.

kata, what kind of sites is the virus redirecting you to?

If it is like what I had they are kinda like online sales sites.
But they are all foreign and have nothing to do with what you clicked.
I was looking up something and it took me to a site that tried to sell me a camera once.

Yeap. Anything from lawyer websites to womens' health articles. I have no clue.

Go to options, network, settings

It should be "no proxy", otherwise tell me.
