Author Topic: How do you export as a .OBJ to a .DTS  (Read 621 times)

I made something in Maya and exported it into Blender as a .obj file. I downloaded the DTS Exporter for Blender from the blockland website but I can't seem to install it. I read the Readme file and it says to run the Windows Installer Script, yet when I double click on it adobe dream weaver comes up instead. Does anyone know how to export as a .dts for BL?

The DTS exporter only works for 2.49.

So you wont be able to export unless you downgrade.

Oh okay, thanks. But how do I install it?

Not the old Blender, the DTS exporter.

when you are using search, check the box where it says-  "Choose a board to search in, or search all" and pull down the list.
Check what section you want, and then type in a few keywords to get what you need...

which in your case is blender with a pre-installed exporter

I don't want to download software that could have a virus on them. The person should have done a How to put the exporter into blender. I also want to learn how to do it myself for future reference with exporting in 3D software and game engines.

Actually if you clicked on the link, it's not an installer.
What I started to make on the topic was a how to on installing python and blender.
Basically, you install blender first, open up the python exporter .zip, then proceed to extract it into .blender/scripts/.
After that, download 2.6.2 of python, and install it on your computer, restart, and the exporter should be working.

And the pre-installed one works even if you don't have python installed. Python just configures the exporter so it actually works, and it's a .zip file.
