You better build your self a flame proof castle, because there is going to be a lot of fire.
It's just hard to believe in old american values when blacks didn't have basic freedom until around Lincoln's time, women couldn't vote until 1919, the native-Americans were driven off their own land, the Japanese were forced into camps during WWII, and gays still mostly don't have the right to marriage. So much for freedom.
Um, that's because it adressed the actual Americans? Our flag is a symbol of what we are. We're Americans, so we take pride in America. Are you saying it's too bad to just stand up and stay quiet for less than a minute just to show your thankfulness for the fact that you have freedom?
I didn't mean to get all preachy there. I just started this thread asking why I had to say this pledge for every day of school for years. It's just one of those oddly suspicious things that everyone takes for granted without wondering why. Satire.
Fun fact: there is supposed to be a separation of Church and State, yet in our Pledge of Allegiance (fun fact #2: Pledge of Allegiance = swearing allegiance) it says "One nation, under God"
Oh god it's just a few words it doesn't matter just don't say it when you're pledging allegiance.
