I need help with Pokemon

Right now I'm above Goldenrod city, somewhere right to the national park and I can't go any further because a tree is blocking my path. When I was here the last time, there was a girl that said something about the tree and that she needs to find her sister to destroy the tree with something.

How do I get water? Do I need water Pokemon for that? Because I ain't got none.

Use either a Squirt Bottle or a Wailmer Pale.

I know what your next question's going to be, so I took this from GameFAQs:

Q: How do I get past the tree on Route 36?

A: Once you have the Plainbadge, go to the house above and to the right of the
Gym. Talk to the chubby lady inside to receive a Squirtbottle.

From there, go to Route 36 and use the Squirtbottle on the tree - Sudowoodo.
Catch or defeat it, and you'll be able to advance to Ecruteak City. Oh, and you
can pick up TM 08 (Rock Smash) by talking to the big guy near the tree.
