No it does, I just tried and it stops you.

The brick limit is extremely pretty high, I doubt a server will exceed the limit.
(excluding unlimited mining)

Reached it without trying.

That was when I was like "SHIIIT!"

I pondered the reasons why this might be, then it dawned on me.  I typed in /brickcount, and turned out I reached my brick limit (256000), which I could have swarn I changed to 99999999
